Xbox Series X|S HDMI Retimer & ESD Booster Repair
Professional Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S HDMI retimer and ESD Booster repair from StanTechFix in Peterborough, with local drop-off by appointment and UK-wide mail-in repair available.
This service is only for a confirmed retimer or ESD Booster fault. It is not intended for undiagnosed no-signal problems.
When to Purchase This Service
Purchase this service only when:
StanTechFix has diagnosed a faulty HDMI retimer or ESD Booster circuit
We have replaced your HDMI port and advised that an additional HDMI repair is required
The fault has already been confirmed through appropriate board-level testing
StanTechFix has sent you a link or specifically instructed you to purchase this service
If your console has no display but the cause hasn’t been confirmed, purchase the Xbox Series X|S Hardware Diagnostic service first.
Relevant Symptoms
A faulty HDMI retimer or ESD Booster circuit may cause:
No HDMI signal with a physically undamaged port
No display after an HDMI port replacement
Intermittent or unstable video output
Screen flickering, distortion or visual artefacts
Problems displaying certain resolutions
HDMI connection or handshake failures
These symptoms can also have other causes and don’t confirm an IC fault by themselves.
What This Service Includes
Confirmation testing of the selected HDMI fault
Inspection of the retimer, ESD Booster circuit and surrounding components
Removal or isolation of the confirmed faulty component
Appropriate IC replacement or protected bypass-flex repair
Microscope inspection of pads, traces and solder joints
HDMI video and audio output testing
Resolution and connection stability testing
Internal dust removal
Fresh thermal paste
Final functional checks before return
ESD Booster Repair Method
Where appropriate, the ESD Booster repair will be completed by replacing the faulty IC directly.
In some circumstances, we may instead install a purpose-designed Booster IC Bypass Flex. This is a proper repair flex that maintains protection for the HDMI circuit and provides a cleaner, more reliable solution when direct IC replacement isn’t the best option.
The repair method will be selected according to the board condition, available solder pads, previous repair work and the fault identified during testing. If a bypass flex is installed, this will be recorded in the repair notes.
If you require direct IC replacement only, please contact us before placing your order.
No Permanent Wire Bypasses
A basic wire-only bypass may be useful temporarily to confirm an ESD Booster fault during diagnosis.
However, a wire bypass doesn’t provide the protection offered by the original circuit or a properly designed protected bypass flex. For this reason, it should never be used as a permanent customer repair.
StanTechFix will not return a console with a basic wire-only bypass presented as a completed repair.
Important Diagnostic Information
We will verify the reported fault before replacing or bypassing components. If testing doesn’t support the selected diagnosis, we won’t carry out unnecessary component work.
Further hardware diagnostics may be required and will be quoted separately.
A retimer or ESD Booster repair won’t resolve faults caused by damaged HDMI traces, filters, power rails, the console’s main processor or other HDMI circuitry.
If another fault is discovered, we will explain our findings and provide a quotation before carrying out additional chargeable work.
Pricing
NB7N621M HDMI Retimer IC repair: £70
HDMI ESD Booster IC repair: £80
Retimer and ESD Booster IC repair: £110
The ESD Booster repair price covers either direct IC replacement or installation of an appropriate protected bypass flex, depending on the repair method selected.
These prices assume the relevant board pads and traces are intact. The first two damaged pads or traces are included where repairable. Additional pad or trace repairs are charged at £10 each and will be confirmed before extra work is carried out.
This is a separate board-level service and isn’t included in the standard HDMI port replacement price.
Warranty
This repair includes a 90-day workmanship warranty covering the replacement component or installed bypass flex and the related labour.
The warranty applies only to the work completed under this service. It doesn’t cover unrelated HDMI circuitry, an incorrect external diagnosis, physical damage, liquid damage, further impact, customer tampering or previous repair damage.
Shipping and Identification
Customers are responsible for paying the cost of sending the console to us and creating their own shipping label.
Pack the console securely and send it to the repair address shown at the bottom of your invoice and in your order confirmation email. Include your name and order number inside the parcel.
